Před měsícem byla spuštěna kampaň na podporu chytrého telefonu Librem 5, jenž by měl respektovat bezpečnost, svobodu a soukromí uživatelů. Cílem kampaně je vybrat alespoň milion a půl dolarů. Aktuálně je vybráno přes 600 000 dolarů, tj. 40 %. Kampaň poběží ještě další měsíc. Podporu projektu oznámilo KDE i GNOME.

Agentura DISA (Defense Information Systems Agency) publikovala (pdf) Ubuntu 16.04 Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) (zip), tj. doporučené bezpečnostní nastavení Ubuntu 16.04. Ubuntu se tak dostalo mezi unixové operační systémy a linuxové distribuce AIX, HP-UX, Oracle Linux, Red Hat a Solaris [reddit].

CSIRT.CZ informuje, že byly vydány nové bezpečnostní aktualizace, které opravují několik zranitelných míst v Sambě. Útočník může využít zranitelnosti s cílem získání přístupu k potenciálně citlivých informací. Uživatelům a správcům je doporučeno, aby zkontrolovali bezpečnostní opatření pro CVE-2017-12150, CVE-2017-12151 a CVE-2017-12163 a provedli potřebné aktualizace.

Byla vydána nová stabilní verze 1.12 (1.12.955.36) webového prohlížeče Vivaldi (Wikipedie). Z novinek vývojáři zdůrazňují možnost zobrazení metadat u digitálních fotografií, vylepšený panel stahování a omezení sytosti barvy zdůraznění (YouTube). Nejnovější Vivaldi je postaveno na Chromiu 61.0.3163.91.

Byla vydána verze 4.0 programovacího jazyka Swift (Wikipedie). Zdrojové kódy jsou k dispozici na GitHubu. Ke stažení jsou oficiální binární balíčky pro Ubuntu 16.10, Ubuntu 16.04 a Ubuntu 14.04.

MojeFedora informuje, že PipeWire byl oficiálně oznámen (en). PipeWire bude zprostředkovávat aplikacím jednotný přístup k audiu a videu. Jedním z hlavních důvodů je možnost izolovat aplikace od audio a video zdrojů. Aplikace nebudou mít přímý přístup k hardwaru, ale budou se muset ptát multimediálního serveru PipeWire, který jim je na základě nastavených oprávnění poskytne nebo ne. V budoucnu by měl PipeWire nahradit PulseAudio.

Společnost IBM věnovala svůj JVM (Java Virtual Machine) s názvem J9 nadaci Eclipse. Nové oficiální jméno tohoto virtuálního stroje určeného pro běh aplikací napsaných v programovacím jazyce Java je Eclipse OpenJ9 (Wikipedie). Podrobnosti v často kladených dotazech (FAQ).

Mezinárodní konsorcium W3C (World Wide Web Consortium) publikovalo kontroverzní rozšíření HTML 5.1 EME (Encrypted Media Extensions) jako webový standard, tj. schválilo DRM v HTML 5.1. Mezinárodní nezisková organizace EFF (Electronic Frontier Foundation) hájící občanské svobody v digitálním světě zveřejnila na svých stránkách otevřený dopis adresovaný W3C. EFF s EME zásadně nesouhlasí a W3C opouští.

    Obsadenost pamate (free) vysoko prekracuje sucet (vsz z ps) procesov

    Problem vyzera nasledovne:
    Linux RH4 64bit server ma 32GB pamate bezi na nom java app server jvm 1.5 32bit s viacerymi kontainermi. Komanda free ukazuje cca 31GB free +/- cache/buffers tj volne nieco pod 1G je cache. ak si dam ps -eo vsz a spocitam tak sa dostanem len na 26GB. Jednotlive java procesy maju vsz od 700M do 2.2GB. samozrejme rsz este podstatne menej. kde je rozdiel 5GB, a ako ich uvolnit. (bez restartu)

    Ze ta zrovna toto trapi, ci je z 32GB pamate volnych len 26GB alebo 31GB :) Btw s linuxami som uz velmi dlho nepracoval, ale nezapocitava prikaz free celkovu velkost ram + swap?

    Zle si cital nie volnych, ale obsadenych. Nie, free Swap + celkovu velkost pamate nezapocitava. Trapi ma to ci je volnych 100MB, alebo 5GB, maju sa tam nasadit dalsie java app. Otazka je: treba ziadat upgrade pamate, alebo nie. Ak ano, tak treba zdovodnit co obsadzuje pamat...

    Po dumání nad "Komanda free ukazuje cca 31GB free +/- cache/buffers tj volne nieco pod 1G je cache" bych spíš řekl zle si napísal. Podle výpisu free (24 free) bych to na upgrade viděl, ale ten součet je divný, když je vsz 26G, jaký je pak součet rss?

    OK trocha som aj ja zle napisal (malo byt used), ale uz je tam aj vystup z free. RSS je 7GB. Proste ten server nedavno bol upgradovany zo 16G na 32GB neexistuje ze 32GB je realne vyuzitych. takze tento sever used 31G,VSZ 26G, RSS 7GB, ine linuxy "bez jvm" used 600M, VSZ 2700M, RSS 700M. proste VSZ ma byt viac ako used, kedze su tam zapocitane shared libraries viac krat pre kazdy proces co ho pouziva.
    ani v ipcs -m nie je ziadna pamat alokovana....

    V used je navic pamet jadra, tedy zejmena slab a tabulky stranek. Potrebujeme znat /proc/meminfo aby se dalo alespon hadat, co se deje

    Slab cache a tabulky stránek mají dohromady jen něco přes 300 MB, takže tím se to nevysvětluje.

    MemTotal - MemFree - Active - Inactive = zhruba tak 25 GB, které jsou zabrány neznámo čím. Vypadá to na nějaký kernel memory leak. Ještě sem přilož dmesg a lsmod.

    Opet Slab a PageTables neni ani v Active ani v Inactive takze MemTotal - MemFree - Active - Inactive - Slab - PageTables = ... Ale se zaverem souhlasim- leak v jadre. Giganticky leak TBH ;-)

    Restart bude, ale nie hned, zda sa ze to bude kernelom, skusime upgradnut. Jeden RedHat 5, nema takyto problem.

    Máš v LVM nějaký snapshot zaplněný na 100 % ? Ve výstupu "lvs" to bude vidět. (Sice by to nemělo způsobovat memory leak, ale kdo ví...).

    Ano, tiez som si to vsimol ze je na 100%, ale tym to nie je, lebo mame 2 identicke servery a snapshot je iba na jednom a problem maju rovnaky obe. Teraz verim, ze to budem bug v kerneli, uz som na obdobnom developerskom serveri upgradoval kernel.

    Podle dmesg-u se jedná nějaký HP Proliant a podle nahratého modulu cpqci soudím, že bude nainstalovaný Proliant Support Pack. Jeho jaderné moduly nemají úplně nejlepší pověst. Zkusil bych nechat běžet server nějakou dobu bez těch HP-specific služeb.
