Dobrý večer, předem se musím omluvit, že otravuji s nvidiou, o které už je již na internetu spousta článků, diskusí, atd., jenže nic z toho mi zatím nepomohlo, a to jsem stávil hledáním, zkoušením driverů, nastavováním, rekompilováním kernelu, apod. několik posledních dní. Už si ale opravdu nevím rady, a proto Vás prosím o pomoc :/

Mám počítač s procesorem Celeron 300 | TNT2 M64 | Motherboard PC-100 M726 s BXcel chipsetem |

Slackware Linux 10.0 | kernel 2.4.26 | gcc 3.3.4 |

Protože s instalací driverů nastal u defaultního kernelu, který jsem si společně s instalací Slackware nainstaloval, problém s rivafb modulem, který se s nově instalovaným driverem 'hádal', zkusil jsem nejprve zkompilovat kernel nový (nejprve 2.6.10). Kvůli dalším problémům jsem se rozhodl překompilovat kernel starý (2.4.26) a vyhodit z něj podporu rivafb (teď mě mrzí, že jsem nezjistil, že se to dá vypnou i jinak - parametrem pro lilo/grum - video=rivafb:off). Podařilo se mi pak nainstalovat driver od nvidie, a myslel jsem, že bude všechno OK. Jenže nastaly další problémy.

Nejprve při zavádění modulu nvidia systém vypsal chybu:

Potom, jsem podle README nakonfiguroval v xorg.conf pár věcí (např. změna driveru z nv na nvidia) a pokusil jsem se spustit X server. Neobjevilo se ani logo, jen černá obrazovka a dál už nic. Systém přestal reagovat na stisky kláves jako Ctrl + Alt + F1 (F2...); Ctrl + Alt + BackSpace; ba ani na Ctrl + Alt + Del. Takže pak už jen RESET :(
Zkusil jsem několik nvidia driverů, včetně toho nejnovějšího. Doufal jsem, že některý z těch starších pomůže (poslední, který jsem zkoušel je verze 1.0-6111), protože jak jsem se dočetl, tak spoustě lidí s TNT2 prý fungovaly.
Nejprve přikládám xorg.0.log, který pár chyb hlásí, ale stejně jsem zatím nebyl schopen najít jejich řešení.

Ali, BXCell zvana aj PC100. noname motherboard. Tiez mi s nim robila nvidia problemy, aale preto ze sa snazila pracovat s vlastnym rozhranim AGP. ked som pouzil kernel mode agp, tak to zacalo fungovat (mam nv11);-).

No vidíš, jaký je svět hardware rozmanitý :-), mně to funguje přesně naopak naopak - musím použít agp od nvidie. A ještě na jednu věc jsem zapomněl: taky se mi to takhle sekalo, pokud jsem explicitně nezadal umístění karty. Spravil to řádek

No, možná že jsi fakt mohl z těch logů vyhodit ty zbytečnosti. Jak už jsem někam psal, TNT2 funguje i s nejnovějšími ovladači, mně teda rozhodně. Před spuštěním Xek by měl být natažen modul nvidia a zkus používat nvidií AGP ovladač - přidáním řádku 'Option "NvAgp" "1"' do sekce Screen. Máš nvidií modul v /etc/modprobe.conf? Spustils depmod? Jinak nevím, mně toto pomohlo. Jo a ta "chyba" při zavádění modulu nvidia - to není chyba, to tě jen upozorňuje, že licence nvidie je "nedobrá" a pokazí tak tvůj čistě opensource systém:-)

Tak jsem na to, asi před pěti minutama přišel sám :) Právě jsem si říkal, že by bylo dobré napsat jsem řešení, pro další co budou hledat kde je chyba. Ano je to přesně tak jak říkáte -> v xorg.conf se musí přehodit Option "NvAGP" z defaultní "3" na "1" protože volba č. 3 nejprve zkusí jestli je přítomný/funkční AGPGART, a když ne tak teprve zvolý č. 1 a to je ten NVIDIAcký modul pro AGP. Takže pokud máte loadnutý AGPGART modul, tak by jste v případě problémů měli dát rovnou volbu "1". Sám jsem byl překvapen tím, jak rychle to chodí. Nebylo to ale tak jednoduché... nejprve jsem se vrátil k předkompilovanému image kernelu bare.i, potom jsem si stáhl nějaké patchnuté ovladače (stačí chvilku hledat ve zdejších diskusích nebo přes google) a začal jsem zkoušet. Nejprve jsem zkusil NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-5328-pkg0.run, který sice fungoval, ale byl znatelně pomalejší při vykreslování 3D objektů, a potom jsem vyzkoušel druhý, který je tam k dispozici - NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-6111-pkg1.run s kterým jsem zatím spokojen :)

Díky všem, co jste byli ochotni se tímto problémem zabývat. ;o)

o úroveň víš, na této stránce se nacházejí drivery originální, které můžete najít na stránkách nvidia.com, potom je tu ještě adresář, kde najdete drivery pro kernely řady 2.6.x

Pokud jde o ty orig. drivery, tak jsem je ještě nezkoušel, a možná že by mohli i chodit (a třeba i rychleji :), takže je brzy vyzkouším.

Tak ještě doplňuji - Ty orig. nejnovější drivery od nvidie mi nejdou. Sice se to nezasekne, ale nezobrazují se a nemažou se lišty. Chová se to prostě zvláštně... ale nevadí. Ty patchnutý drivery fungují dobře :)
