xtightvncviewer x TightVNC (server)

Ahoj, hraju si tady s VNC a zkouším se zorientovat v těch všech jeho klonech. Chtěl bych z Linuxu přistupovat na stanici s Windows. Pochopil jsem, že pro linux je velice dobrou (nejlepší) volbou TightVNC, protože:

je cross-platform,
je open-source and free (s licencí GPL v2),
má balíčky přímo v distribucích (xtightvnc),
je zaměřený na pomalé linky (tight encoding).

Na Wikipedii je uvedeno: "tight encoding is not supported by most other implementations, so it is necessary to use TightVNC at both ends to gain the full advantage of its enhancements". To je celkem srozumitelná informace.

Ale zajímá mne, jak je to v rámci TightVNC? V Linuxu je řada 1.3 (v mém Kubuntu TightVNC Viewer version 1.3.9), kdežto na webu je pro Windows ke stažení řada 2.7 (aktuálně 2.7.10). U verze 2.0 je uvedeno: "TightVNC Server 2.0 for Windows has been completely rewritten by the TightVNC team. It does not include old TightVNC 1.3 code. So the right answer to the "What's New?" question must be "Everything!". I když u verze 2.7.7 je uvedeno: "Fixed incompatibility with older versions of TightVNC Viewer (1.3.10)."

Netušíte, jestli to znamená plnou kompatibilitu tj. ve všech funkcích?

Také se nikde nemohu dohrabat informace, jak je to s podporou IPv6.
