Postup zprovoznění pod Linuxem

Debian Squeeze 64bit funguje bez problému, je potřeba non-free firmware pro síť - balík firmware-bnx2. Používáme jádro linux-headers-2.6.38-bpo.2-amd64 z backports.

Pro management nástroje ke SmartArray kartě je potřeba doinstalova ia32-libs.

Vyčítání teplot je dostupné přes IPMI, v Debianu funguje balík freeipmi-tools a příkaz ipmi-sensors.

Poznámka

Jednovláknový výkon CPU Opteron 6128 je i oproti levným Intel procesorům hodně slabý. Při přenosu dat přes SSH (s použitím blowfish) se nelze dostat na víc než 60 MB/s.

Dobrý je čtyřkanálový řadič RAM, díky kterému lze na jeden CPU osadit např. 48 GB v levných 4 GB modulech, nebo 96 GB jako 12 × 8 GB. Normálně fungují neoriginální paměti Kingston, máme v provozu se 4 sadami s P/N: KVR1333D3D4R9SK3/12G.

LightsOut 3 funguje dobře, pro plný přístup na grafickou konzoli vyžaduje zakoupení extra licence. Zajímavé je, že i bez licence přístup na grafickou KVM funguje, ale náhodně se po několika desítkách sekund odpojuje. Pro Linux je celkem dostatečná možnost dostat se přes SSH na textovou VGA konzoli - iLO příkaz TEXTCONS.

Přes iLO web lze stroj zapnout/restartovat/vypnout, sledovat teploty, aktuální spotřebu energie, a poruchy (RAM, větráky, zdroje).

Řadič SmartArray P410/512MB BBWC, s 8 ks 146 GB 10 krpm SAS disků, RAID50, XFS, dosahuje sekvenčního čtení i zápisu kolem 600 MB/s.
