Špatné rozlišení na notebooku

Nevím jak si to vysvětlit, ale mám na notebooku kam jsem si nainstaloval debian rozlišení 1024x768, když se podívám na gnome-display-p, abych změnil rozlišení, je tam jen 1024x768 a žádné menší ani větší ani jiné. Tak jsem se šel podívat na soubor xorg.conf a tam je všude automaticky uvedeno 1280x800. Opravdu jsem si to ověřoval a mám nastaveno přesto rozlišení 1024x768. Mohl by mi s tím někdo prosím poradit?
