Sun Microsystems is establishing a new engineering group in Prague. The new group will focus on new products and platforms targeting Sun's OEM (original equipment manufacturer) customers. These customers buy Sun products and embed them within their own solutions.
Having created other similar groups in Prague (e.g. NetBeans and other engineering teams), Sun has found that this model expands its proven ability to provide quality products and meet time to market demands.
The OEM business is about strong relationships with OEM customers, thus emphasis will not only be on Testing and Development but also on Solution Design – expert consultative support. The target product is an integrated computing platform for application hosting and development that leverages common off-the-shelf components and provides full life cycle management and support. Initially the business domain of the integrated product will be in telecommunications.
The size of the whole team will grow to 30 talented engineers and can scale further as business grows. We are looking predominantly for senior engineers with experience working in international teams as well as talented new graduates and junior engineers. Candidates should have experience in core technologies, such as: J2EE, C, C++. Experience in the telecommunications industry is desired, as is Sun specific product knowledge in the area of Operating Systems (Linux is good reference).
