Gnash - GNU GPL Flash player (diskuse)

Nedavno mi tu nekdo v diskusi rikal, ze podle licence k Flash formatu (jehoz specifikace je dostupna) neni dovoleno delat prehravace, pouze software generujici Flash. Tak jak to je?

unika mi porad neco, nebo FSF uplne s klidem porusuje licencni podminky firmy Macromedia??

Nejspíš jen nepoužili zmiňovanou specifikaci. Microsoft Word Document asi taky není otevřený formát a OpenOffice si s ním poradí.

ok, gnash vychazi z GameSWF, do ktereho muzeou lide prispivat mj. za teto podminky:

You have not looked at the Macromedia SWF File Format documentation. This spec comes with a restrictive license that does not allow it to be used to make player software. I am not aware of any legal theory that makes that type of license in any way enforcable; nevertheless using this spec to build gameswf is clearly contrary to Macromedia's wishes. I am not a lawyer and would prefer to steer well clear of any legal gray areas, and also avoid stepping on Macromedia's toes if it's not necessary.

takze na zaklade principu presumpce neviny musime predpokladat, ze ani jeden z lidi pracujicich na techto nastrojich se nikdy nepodival na specifikaci SWF formatu...

Je to jednoduché - ten, kdo nemá nainstalovaný software od Macromedia, není vázán tady touto smlouvou, takže se tato smlouva na něj nevztahuje a může si dělat s SWF cokoli, pokud neporuší nějaký patent.

no tak to ani nahodou. Nez SWF specs dostanete, musite se zaregistrovat a s licenci souhlasit.

Nemusí, stačí když jí stáhne z neoficiálního zdroje.

Pokud specifikace není program, tak to u nás legální je.
