Zaslechl jsem cosi o tom, ze uz i ovladac x.org umi neco akcelerovat. Posledni namet k debate: Na jake nejslabsi konfiguraci je hratelny Doom3 (linux verze)?

Question: Is it possible to make nvidia cards work with current dri (is it planned if not now)? Answer: No, it is impossible because NVIDIA does not release documentation for their chips. At one point NVIDIA provided a source package for their older TNT/TNT2 cards which was obfuscated. Utah-GLX project has a driver for older NVIDIA cards based on that source release, but it doesn't support anything newer than GeForce cards and would take a lot of work to adapt to DRI. (It also has some bugs I think..) Comment: "Older" here means nv20-series and earlier. the nv20 series was the Geforce 3Ti and 4Ti. So, older than anything you'll find at Fry's, but not entirely out of circulation. The original nvidia code drop looks very similar to the code that's in Utah, and the open nv driver; unadorned hex numbers everywhere. It's not obfuscated the way the closed nvidia driver is. The function, variable, and(to some extent) register names are all meaningful, but the values are underdocumented. The Utah driver assuredly has bugs, but so does DRI, so does every driver. I don't know of anyone working to port the utah driver to DRI, though some people have threatened to do so in the past.V jinem vlakne tamtez se pise
Sorry, DRI doesn't have an open nvidia driver, and the closed nvidia driver doesn't use the DRI infrastructure, so you're on the wrong list.A nejzasadnejsi informace nakonec
Question: I have the nvidia.com drivers, and I want to find out how to get it to work like it is on Slackware, where it says it has DRI even though I'm using nvidia drivers. Without this, 3D graphics are unbearably slow, and quickly use up all of my 1gb of ram. Is there a way to find out information about what DRI is doing? Answer: Let me clarify this. DRI is not the same as "direct rendering". On Slackware it probably says "direct rendering: Yes", which is correct, but it's not DRI. DRI is the drirect rendering infrastructure used by the free 3D drivers in XFree86 and some non-free binary drivers. NVidia uses their own infrastructure for direct rendering.Z toho usuzuji, ze DRI neni obecne pouzitelne a z odkazu na inetu odhaduji, ze je primarne spojeno s kartami ATI.
