Ahojda,
po upgrade balíčku jádra z 2.6.18-3 na 2.6.18-4 mi prestal grub zavádět systém. Hlásí chybu:
Booting 'Debian GNU/Linux, kernel 2.6.18-6-686'
root (hd0,0)
Filesystem type is ext2fs, partition type 0x83
kernel /boot/vmlinux-2.6.18-4-686 root=/dev/hda1 ro
[Linux-bzImage, setup=0x1e00, size=0x131e4b]
Error 18: Selected cylinder exceeds maximum supported by BIOS
Press any key to continue...
Přitom jádro 2.6.18-3-686 mi i nyní zavede grub zcela bez problémů. Čím to?
Zde je výpis fdisk /dev/hda
The number of cylinders for this disk is set to 2432.
There is nothing wrong with that, but this is larger than 1024,
and could in certain setups cause problems with:
1) software that runs at boot time (e.g., old versions of LILO)
2) booting and partitioning software from other OSs
(e.g., DOS FDISK, OS/2 FDISK)

Vážně by mne zajímalo v čem je problém, jedná se o notebook IBM X40...
Moc děkuji za případné rady.
Na otázku zatím nikdo bohužel neodpověděl.
