Simon Long představil na blogu Raspberry Pi novou verzi 2017-08-16 linuxové distribuce Raspbian určené především pro jednodeskové miniaturní počítače Raspberry Pi. Společně s Raspbianem byl aktualizován také instalační nástroj NOOBS (New Out Of the Box Software). Nejnovější Raspbian je založen na Debianu 9 Stretch. Přehled novinek v poznámkách k vydání. Ve virtualizačním softwaru Xen bylo nalezeno a opraveno 5 bezpečnostních chyb XSA-226 až XSA-230. Nejzávažnější z nich XSA-227 (CVE-2017-12137) umožňuje eskalaci privilegií a ovládnutí celého systému, tj. správce hostovaného systému se může stát správcem hostitelského systému.

V roce 2013 proběhla na Kickstarteru úspěšná kampaň na podporu otevřeného Dobře temperovaného klavíru (Well-Tempered Clavier). Stejný tým s Kimiko Išizaka spustil před týdnem na Kickstarteru kampaň Libre Art of the Fugue na podporu svobodného Umění fugy.

Byla vydána (pdf) verze 3 průběžně aktualizované (rolling release) linuxové distribuce Solus (Wikipedie). Ke stažení je v edicích Budgie, GNOME a MATE. Z novinek lze zmínit například podporu snapů. Solus 3 obsahuje Firefox 55.0.1, LibreOffice 5.4.0.3, Rhythmbox 3.4.1 nebo Thunderbird 52.2.1. Edice Budgie a GNOME přichází s GNOME MPV 0.12. Edice MATE s VLC 2.2.6.

    Refresh rate a nvidia driver

    Mám v Ubuntu 7.04 s grafikou NVIDIA Geforce4 následující problém: při užití driveru nvidia nerozjedu na monitoru víc než 85Hz a to při rozlišení 1152x864. Na vyšších rozlišeních už jde jen 60Hz. přitom při užití driveru nv mi jede klidně 1400x1050 na 85Hz. Jedná se o monitor SGI 4011P 19" Už jsem četl i hlášky, že jde o bug v driveru nvidia, různé úpravy xorg.conf ve smyslu Option VertRefresh apod. nemají žádný efekt. Driver nv nemohu použít, protože potřebuji TV-out a provozovat na 19" 1152x864 taky není ono. Poradí někdo? Driver nvidia je verze 1.0-9639, tedy poslední co ještě podporuje GF4. Díky za rady!

    Zkusil bych podle navodu k ovladaci vypnout pouzivani EDID

    a nastavit HorizSync a VertRefresh rucne. Bez zakazani pouziti EDID ovladac na HorizSync a VertRefresh nereaguje a to same plati i pro rucni nastaveni rozmeru obrazovky.
    Pokud jste toto jiz udelal, pak bude muset poradit nekdo jiny, hodte sem log.

    Tak UseEDIDFreqs a vepsání ručně nepomohlo,stále mi nabízí pouze 60Hz. Dle logu bych řekl, že monitor referuje správně. Tady je Xorg.0.log:

    Takže problém byl nakonec definivně a k plné spokojenosti vyřešen takto: Do sekce Device jsem vepsal:

    Musím upozornit, že monitor má v parametrech uvedenu max. horiz. frekvenci 85 kHz, což mi ale neumožnilo při 1400x1050 více než 75Hz. Teď mi funguje toto rozlišení při 85Hz a Horiz. frekv. je 94kHz! Pod WinXP však tyto frekvence chodí bez problému, takže v parametrech je chyba. Snad to někomu s podobným problémem pomůže, nebojte se zkrátka experimentovat...
