Průkopnická firma FingerWorks kolem roku 2000 vyvinula vícedotykové trackpady s gesty a klávesnice jako TouchStream LP. V roce 2005 ji koupil Apple, výrobu těchto produktů ukončil a dotykové technologie využil při vývoji iPhone.
