Dotaz: Jak rozchodit SATA radič Kouwel 571S pod linuxem

Zdravim

Chtěl jsem si udělat ze starého kompíku (AMD Athlon 750, VIA KT133) storage server. Koupil jsem si dva disky(WD 250 GB SATA) a již zmíněný řadič. Vše správně namontuji , nastavím na radiči RAID 1 a počnu instalaci.

Akorát že to nejak nefachá a tudíž nic nenainstaluju.

Nevíte náhodou někdo co stím? Tenhle výpis je ze SuSE 9.3

Jinak stejnej výpis dává i Centos 4.2 a i Fedora Core 4 i SUSE 10.

Když na ten komp prdnu Windows vše chodí uplně fpoho...

Za prvé: stavět storage server na KT133 je absolutní nesmysl. Je to šmejd, při větší I/O zátěži velmi nestabilní.

Za druhé: Jelikož se nejedná o RAID, tak je nesmysl něco takového v BIOSu nastavovat. To možná potřebuje někdo kdo používá SW RAID ve Windows, ale pro novou instalaci Linuxu je rozhodně lepší použít normální SW RAID a nezabývat se nějakým nestandardním.

Za třetí: Tento výpis není není moc užitečný. Je tam 10x dokola totéž (že řadič hlásí chybu), což by stačilo jednou. A chybí tam to hlavní, tedy co to nadetekovalo a jaký ovladač se vlastně použil.

To určitě ne, tato karta není RAID (i když má SW RAID v BIOSu). Nic proti ní, jako SATA adaptér - proč ne. Ale SW RAID doporučuji normální, nativní linuxový.

Pouzivam tyto radice (zatim spokojenost) s debianem sarge (3.1, kernel 2.6). Nejslabsi stroj byl pent 160MHz s 250GB disky ... pak sem z nej ten radic s disky vrazil do dual P.Pro 200MHz. Dalsi stroje byly jiz silnejsi. Jedine , v cem se lisim, je, ze raid dela kernel primo (tj. SW raid) a ne jakozehardware (a pouzivam barracudy).
Zkus ten "skorohardwarovy raid" zrusit a zalozit na tom raid softwarove. (fedora i debian to umi pomoci instalatoru, ostatni nevim, ale ocekaval bych totez). Vykonove bys to nemel poznat, spis naopak (protoze radic zrejme NEDELA raid v hw, akorat to pak otravuje s atyp. driverem) a taky by to melo byt trochu prenositelnejsi v pripade problemu.

jo (ikdyz v tom prispevku chybel jediny otaznik... :-/), zkusil sem poslat mail...

Jinak - pokud tam nebude nastaven ten biosovy raid, tak zkuste, jestli ta instalace zacne. Pokud jo, tak si rozdelte rucne disky, akorat misto "normalnich" ext3/swap a pod. uvedte pouziti oddilu jako "raid" (typ oddilu je to FD). Stejne nastavte oba disky. Az zalozite vsechny potrebne oddily, lezi pobliz polozka k vytvareni raidu. Zajimat Vas asi bude RAID1 (mirror). Zkuste, uvidite.

muhehe ... ja si snad nainstaluju dalsi debian a udelam z toho zapis, pokud jich jeste neni po netu dost.

Pouzivam Kouwel 571S na storage serveru (Fedora). Mel jsem obdobny problem. Nema cenu asi badat nad tim, jak je delany ten ala HW RAID. Pouzivam pro disky na tomto radici SW RAID co nabizi Linux a nemam jediny problem.
