O mně:
If you're trying to find a reasonable answer for 'What is the best-rated vacuum cleaner of 2020?", you're in the right place.
We got tons of readers' emails asking for the do's and don'ts when shopping for a home vacuum cleaner. There are tens of new models released every year, and the brochure is not exactly helping. So we turned to our team of experts for recommendations and advice. In this review, we'll bring you FIVE of the best vacuum cleaners on the market. You'll also learn:
We have quite a lot to go through. So let's get started!
The Editor's Pick: Shark Navigator Lift-Away NV352
Out of the 10 vacuum cleaners tested for this review, the Shark Navigator Lift-Away NV352 got the highest rating for being affordable, effective, and user-friendly. This bagless vacuum works consistently well on most flooring materials, so you can have a smooth transition going from carpet to hardwood floor. In our tests, the NV352 scored highest on the low-pile vacuum, cleaning about 98% of small debris and dust in one go. Coming from the Navigator Lift-Away series, NV352 can quickly be transformed into a handheld device by detaching the dust canister from the floor cleaning head. What you'd have is a small, lightweight, highly portable vacuum cleaner that you can carry up and down the stairs and into your car. We looked into some of the best vacuum cleaner and found that, at its price range, the NV352 has the best air filtering system.
With 2 felt-material pre-motor filters and a HEPA post-motor filter, the NV352 keeps 99.97% of fine particles inside the vacuum, keeping the air around you clean and safe. However, NV352 can't suffice if you're looking for more suction power at the cleaning head because of its non-powered Lift-Away function. The motor's suction power won't be fully delivered to your crevice tools, restricting at times. This bagless vacuum also has a 25-ft cord, shorter than the average cleaners, and comes with only 2 cleaning tools. But again, you can't beat the quality of this price.
The Upgrade's Pick: Miele Complete C3 Calima
The Miele Complete C3 Calima maxed out our vacuum ratings of cleaning power and performance. If not for the price, it would be the editor's pick. So if you're looking for a powerful vacuum that can last a long time, the Calima is a perfect choice. This canister vacuum reached deep into the thick-pile carpet to pick up 99.7% of the dust in one swoop. The price is steep. But considering it's a well-built canister vacuum coming from one of the best vacuum cleaner brands on the current market, it's a reasonable investment into your home's air quality.
All of the dust goes through a HEPA filter before being tightly sealed up in a bag, which you have to change out approximately every 2 months if you clean often. The cost adds up quickly if you own pets. We don't recommend the Miele to pet owners because pet hairs can soon fill up the bag. We estimated a typical non-pet household might spend up to $800 on filters and bags throughout the vacuum's life, and 40-50% more if you own pets. But if you need extra care protection from allergens, the Miele might be positive returns on investment.
Best Cordless Stick Vacuum: Dyson V7 Motorhead
Type in Top 10 vacuum cleaners, and Google might suggest you a Dyson as the first result. Though we'd write off its upright series as rip-offs, Dyson's cordless vacuums are worth the investment. We specifically recommend the V7 Motorhead for small homes and apartments for V7's battery duration, high mobility, and ease of use. During our tests, we milked the V7 and the Dyson storage-integrated charging station. It takes 30 minutes to fully charge and 25 and 6 minutes to empty on bare floors and thick rug, respectively. The V7 delivered excellent suction power to the cleaning head for a cordless vacuum, performing better than the Editor's Pick on medium to thick-pile rugs. Besides its being cordless, the V7's application range is limitless due to the wide selection of compatible cleaning tools.
You can quickly assemble an extended curved tool to clean the kitchen cabinet' top, for example. Much that we hated the bulky ball-joint design on the upright version, we loved the mini ball on the cleaning head on the V7. It allows for swift swivels and sharp turns at any angle since it's not bogged down by the weight. However, the motor weight is distributed near the top. With the trigger-style switch, prolonged use will cause discomfort to your arm, wrist, and fingers. Judging purely on performance, we'd definitely recommend the V7 cordless vac. But at $400, you might need to go over your budget.
Best Budget Pick: Hoover Linx Signature Cordless Stick Vacuum
Talking about budget, the Hoover Linx is a great option if you're on the market for an affordable but powerful option. One of Hoover's best-rated vacuum cleaners, The Linx is a lightweight compact and sleek cordless stick vacuum. The Linx gives you 20 and 10 minutes of free-range cleaning on bare-floor and thick rugs, respectively. Not the best battery life, especially when compared to Dyson V7's. But for the price - of both the unit and the extra removable battery, we enjoyed what we got.
It quickly finished the job incredibly well in a small, open space. It's easy to maneuver because it keeps the machine's weight on the floor, freeing up the handle for some buttons, similar to some uprights. We could quickly go under the couch and low coffee table. The powered brushroll function worked nicely and didn't leave marks or disperse dust on hardwood floors. Though it needs frequent dust emptying and maintenance, especially when you vacuum pet hair, following the simple guide is enough to cover daily use.
Best Hand Vacuum: Black+Decker 20V Max Lithium Pivot BDH2000FL
Black+Decker won't pop up if you Google "Best vacuum cleaners in the world". Mostly known for its powered hand tools, Black+Decker hid a great 20V hand vacuum up its sleeve. The Pivot BDH2000FL was designed to station in workshops and garages, but we found it better used as a home and car vacuum. At an affordable price of $80-90, the Pivot is a compact, lightweight handheld vacuum, perfect for quick cleanup in the car or around the house.
In our test, the Pivot could pick up thin pet hairs and baking soda stuck in a kitchen mat, better than most vacuum we tested. This might be because there's little distance for the suction power to travel from the motor to the cleaning head; hence the power isn't lost along the way, ensuring high throughput. The Pivot's suction power is only behind the best-performing Dyson's V7 Car+Boat, but you can't beat it for its price.
