Postup zprovoznění pod Linuxem

Dle meho nazoru patri notebooky IBM k nejlepe podporovanym a zdokumentovanym v Linuxu. Podrobne navody a jine informace vcetne blizsich technickych specifikaci lze nalezt na http://www.thinkwiki.org. Na mem Gentoo mi funguje vse, vcetne Suspend to RAM a Suspend To Disk. Jedine co jsem nijak neresil je modem, ktery nemam potrebu pouzivat, tudiz jsem se ani nijak nepokousel o oziveni.

Poznámka

Vyborny kus hardwaru, s velmi dlouhou zivotnosti diky horcikovemu ramu a krytu LCD. Notebook byl dodan s Win XP Pro. Disk byl rozdelen na 2 casti. V prvni byl uzivateli pristupny oddil, druha cast byla pro predinstalovanou zalohu windows, ovladacu a softwaru k nastaveni hesla na disk. Data z teto partisny jsem si zazalohoval a potom ji zrusil. Vzhledem k tomu ze zabyvam WI-FI sitema, potrebuji pouzivat utilitu NetStumbler (ke ktere jsem bohuzel nenasel plnohodnotnou alternativu pro Linux) a tak windows pouzivam pouze jako bootloader bro ni. Instalace windows byl celkem problem, nebot nemam zadnou externi mechaniku od IBM a tak jsem instaloval z externi LG. Instalace zkoncila na detekci HW. nakonec jsem musel na jinem pocitaci nainstalovat win 2000 server a zprovoznit sluzbu vzdalene instalace, instalaci win jsem pote spustil bootovanim ze site. Instalace Linuxu byla bezproblemova, zkousel jsem nekolik ruznych live distribuci i samotnych instalacnich CD ruznych distribuci a u zadne se mi nestalo ze by v nejakem kroku pri detekci vytuhli.
